Brown’s has been here for over 32 years. Delia and Andy Stirling are the current owners. Delia’s parents (The Brown's) started making cheese back when the only other cheese producer was KCC. There was a ban on imported cheese by the Kenyan government. Delia’s dad loved Brie so he convinced his wife to try making it, as she's a trained chef, so she made some with the extra milk they had from two cows in the garden.
take our cheese abroad and are able to win international cheese
competitions. These keep us on our toes making sure we are true to
the recipe and it helps us prove the high quailty of our Kenyan
cheeses compared to imports. In 2010 we won 7 first and 4 second
prizes in South Africa at their dairy championships.
We now export regionally (Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia) and are working on a cheese for export to the US.
You can visit our farm to purchase from the Factory Door, or enjoy a tour of the factory with cheese plate, lunch and wines.
